Root Canal Treatment
Pain-free root canal treatment that saves a badly infected tooth instead of losing it.
What is it?
When decay or trauma reaches the pulp (the soft centre containing the nerve), the tooth becomes painful or infected. Root canal treatment removes the infected pulp, cleans and disinfects the canals, then seals them. The tooth is then restored, usually with a crown, so it stays strong. For children, pulpectomy does the same for baby teeth.
Who may need it
- Severe toothache or pain when biting
- Deep decay reaching the nerve
- Children with infected primary teeth (pulpectomy)
Benefits
- Saves your natural tooth
- Relieves toothache permanently
- Prevents the infection spreading to the jaw
Process
Duration
Usually 1–2 visits of 45–90 minutes each
Aftercare
Mild tenderness is normal for a few days. Avoid hard foods until your dentist confirms the final restoration.
